In the year 2025, Holi will be celebrated on March 14 Friday. It falls on full moon day of Phalgun month according to the Hindu Calendar.

March 13, 2025 Thursday: Holika Dahan 

March 14, 2025 Friday : Holi of colours 

This festival symbolises the victory of good over evil, and promotes love, brotherhood, and joy. 

🌸Introduction 

 Holi is the most colourful and joyous festival of India also and "The Festivals of colours". Holi is celebrated on the full moon day of the month of Falgun and symbolise the victory of good over evil. On this day people play Holi with gulal colour and water, distribute sweet and promote mutual love and brotherhood.

The history of Holi is link to the mythological story of Prahlad and Holika in which Holika Dahan gives the message of the end of evil and victory of virtue. Holi is specially famous in North India, where Lathmar holi of Mathura, Vrindavan, and Barsana is centre of attraction all over the world. 

🎨 How Holika Dahan is celebrated 🔥

Holika Dahan is perform on the night of falgun Purnima day before Holi tradition of Holika Dahan. Holika Dahan is related to the mythological story of Prahlad and Holika in which Holika was burnt and devotee Prahlad was  saved.

  • First  of all wood and cow down cakes are the kept at one place 
  • It is lit as a Holika fire 
  • people do parikrama and pray that their life free from negative energy.


🎨 How is Holi of colours celebrated ❓

  • Holi of colour is played the next day of the Holika Dahan 
  • tradition of celebrating Holi 
  • people apply gulal and other colours to each other's face. 
  • Sweets like Gujiya, Malpua, Thandai are made in homes. 
  • People dance and sing to the tune of drums. 
  • In many places, holi is played with water balloons and pichkaari. 
  • Friends, family and relatives wish each each other happy holi.

  • Lathmar Holi of Barsana- Women showers sticks on men. 
  • Flower holi of Mathura - Vrindavan Holi is celebrated with flowers instead of colours.
  • Hola Mohalla of Punjab . Sikh community celebrate it as a festival of bravery.
  • Royal holi of Rajasthan . royal families celebrates holi traditionally. 

 🎨 Precautions while playing Holi ‼️

  • use of natural colours
  •  avoid wastage of water and play safe Holi 
  •  apply coconut oil to protect eyes and skin
  • do not forcefully apply colours on children     and animals. 

Conclusion 

Holi is not just a festival of colours but a festival of love, brotherhood and happiness. On this day people forget their old grudges and embrace each other and strengthen their relationship. This year celebrate Holi with goodwill, enthusiasm and happiness.
